The ties that bind: Man brings daughter's body to police station to report her death

SIBU: An elderly man and his family caused a stir at the central police station here on Monday (May 30) when he brought along his daughter's body to report her death.

It was learned that the man had earlier sent his son to a public university here to attend class.

When he returned to the family home in Bawang Assan at about 10am, he saw his 49-year-old daughter, a teacher, lying motionless on the kitchen floor.

He then brought her to a nearby clinic where a doctor pronounced her dead and advised him to lodge a police report.

He was told to leave the body at the clinic but refused and took his daughter's remains to the police station.

When he arrived there at 11.10am, policemen at the reporting desk were shocked to see the man and his relatives carrying the woman's body into the station.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zuklipli Suhaili confirmed the matter when contacted on Tuesday (May 31).

He added that police were now investigating the case, including the cause of the woman's death.
