KOTA KINABALU: Police are looking for at least two men who were caught on video attacking a car before it sped off, apparently in Sabah’s northern Kota Belud district.
The 19-second clip, which has gone viral on social media, shows several men trying to stop a car as the driver is reversing the vehicle.
Before the motorist manages to drive off, a man is seen swinging a stick at the car’s windscreen while another strikes its side window with what appears to be a motorcycle helmet.
The incident is said to have taken place at a roadside stall in the district at about 4.40pm on Monday (May 23).
Kota Belud police chief Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said the video was brought to the attention of the authorities on Tuesday (May 24).
“We are trying to locate the (men in the video) in order to facilitate our investigation,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 25).
He said police are looking into the case under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief resulting in loss or damage.
Supt Shahrudin advised the public not to speculate about the incident or raise alarm that may interfere with the investigation.
