Johor polls show BN can retake Iskandar Puteri, says MCA leader

JOHOR BARU: Barisan Nasional can wrest back the Iskandar Puteri parliamentary seat from DAP in the 15th General Election (GE15) as evident by the gains made in the Johor polls, says Datuk Jason Teoh.

The MCA Iskandar Puteri division chief added that this was evident during the Johor state election where Barisan did well in Kota Iskandar and Skudai state seats, which lie within the Iskandar Puteri constituency.

"We won back the Kota Iskandar seat from Parti Amanah Negara. Even though we were unable to win the Skudai seat, MCA was able to reduce DAP's majority.

"This shows the difference between GE14 and the Johor polls, and voters – especially the Chinese – have swung back to Barisan," he said after presenting food baskets to the less fortunate at Taman Universiti here on Thursday (May 19).

He said with Barisan gaining momentum as GE15 approaches, they must continue to work hard and reach out to voters.

"Iskandar Puteri is one of the biggest constituencies in the country with about 220,000 voters, which has increased following the implementation of Undi-18.

"The MCA Iskandar Puteri division will continue to work hard and reach out to many people as we can as it is our duty to continue serving them," he added.
