IPOH: The families of the KM246 North-South Expressway crash victims that were burnt to death have each received a RM1,000 donation from Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Saarani's political secretary Datuk Sham Mat Sahat said the personal contribution, along with other forms of assistance, was a show of sympathy for the families of the victims of the tragic incident.

“The Mentri Besar has instructed for accommodation and food to be provided to the families of the victims who travelled from far away.

"Those who came from Johor and Terengganu to claim the bodies of their children, we have put them up at Lanai Casuarina until the forensic process is completed. We will bear everything," Sham was quoted as saying by news portal Astro Awani.

He said this when met at the Lanai Casuarina hotel in Kuala Kangsar.

Similarly, the hotel has also contributed the same amount as a donation to each of the five families.

The five victims were all students of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (Usas).
