Dr Wee: Unity and harmony at PM's open house reflective of Malaysia's unique qualities

KUALA LUMPUR: Appreciating the unity of the people at the Prime Minister and Cabinet members' Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong says it shows the uniqueness of Malaysia.

The Transport Minister, who attended the open house on Sunday (May 8), said it was a lively and harmonious event attended by guests from all walks of life, including political and community leaders, foreign diplomats, non-governmental organisations and members of the public.

"This is the uniqueness of Malaysia when all, regardless of religion, race and background, come together to celebrate every festival with gratitude.

"Diversity is an important element that we need to defend, as it is the strength of the Malaysian Family," he said in a post on social media.

Dr Wee took the opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Raya.

He said those in attendance at the open house hosted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Cabinet members held at the Seri Perdana complex in Putrajaya included Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Also present at the open house were Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Rais Yatim and Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

This Hari Raya open house is the first after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions.
