Covid-19 Watch: New low of 1,503 cases yesterday (May 1)


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,503 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (May 1), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Monday (May 2) that this brings the new total to 4,449,507 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 1,503, six are imported cases while 1,497 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 5,839 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 41,167.

Of the active cases, 97.2% or 39,995 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 29 people, or 0.1% of the active infections are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 2.5% of active cases or 1,074 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 69 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 45 require ventilator support.
