Several Melaka infrastructure projects to be expedited, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Several infrastructure projects in Melaka, including the expansion of the Batu Berendam Airport and Tanjung Bruas Port, will be expedited, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister said other projects were the proposed tram for Melaka city by the state government as well as development of the Melaka Marina, maritime and port sector.

This was the subject of discussion when Dr Wee paid a courtesy call to Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam at Istana Melaka on Sunday (May 1).

Dr Wee said the governor had also asked the Transport Ministry to monitor the widespread occurrence of modified bicycles and motorcycles with state enforcement agencies.

"This monitoring could control illegal racing and basikal lajak activity which endangers road users and the lives of the people and younger generation in particular.

"The Yang di-Pertua Negri was a deputy transport minister 24 years ago and is always committed to matters of prevention and education related to road safety," Dr Wee said in a Facebook post.
