PASleaks: Isham lodges report against Kedah MB

PETALING JAYA: Selangor Barisan Nasional information chief Datuk Isham Jalil has lodged a police report against Datuk Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over the alleged leak of PAS documents.

Isham said the police report was lodged against the Kedah Mentri Besar at the Bandar Bukit Puchong police station by his officers on Friday (April 29) morning.

In Isham's police report, he cited Muhammad Sanusi's remarks in a press conference on April 27, where the PAS leader alleged Isham as being behind the leaked documents.

"The Kedah Mentri Besar's statement is untrue, defamatory and malicious towards me.

"His statement has elements of criminal defamation under Section 499 of the Penal Code," said Isham in the police report.

Isham is asking the authorities to investigate Muhammad Sanusi thoroughly.

"So this could be a lesson to the public, especially to the ones who are holding high positions in the government, that they must be more responsible before issuing statements and do not defame anyone," said Isham.

Muhammad Sanusi became subject to Isham's ire after he had allegedly insinuated that the latter cooked up documents pertaining to purported leaked minutes taken down during a meeting between PAS leaders and several national leaders.

The Mentri Besar had told a press conference that he believed the documents were cooked up by cybertroopers of interested parties which would include Isham and that the Barisan information man was prone to constructing such documents.

The documents allegedly contained a plot to topple Umno and Barisan, as well as to expedite court cases involving Umno leaders.

On Thursday (April 28), Isham demanded Muhammad Sanusi to apologise to him within 48 hours.

Isham had said he would lodge a police report first before suing Muhammad Sanusi.

While PAS leaders have dismissed the alleged report as "trash", its ties with Umno were believed to be strained as top Umno leaders continue to raise questions on the intelligence report.
