New scam on fake documents emerges in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A latest scam involving fake documentation has emerged in Sabah, with the authorities advising immigrants to be wary of it.

Sabah Immigration director Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof said the department had been informed of the sale of the fake document titled “Arahan Pembayaran Permit Masuk KDN” (Home Ministry order of entry payment).

A syndicate is believed to be behind the fake document.

Saying the department had never issued such a document, she added that a police report was lodged yesterday.

“The public should deal directly with us at the Immigration offices if they have documentation problems or issues to inquire,” she said.

Sitti urged the people to provide information on such fake documents to enable action to be taken against those involved, adding that the department’s link was https://imi.spab.gov.my

Recently, there was another suspected documentation scam with fake special identification cards being sold to unsuspecting foreigners in the state.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said police were investigating the latest documentation scam.
