King, Queen attend Khatam Al-Quran event, Tahlil recital


PEKAN: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah attended a ‘Khatam Quran’ event (the completion of reciting the whole Quran) in conjunction with the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration and Tahlil recital for Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Haj Mosque here on Tuesday (April 19).

His Majesty who was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah arrived at the mosque at 6pm.

The Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and other Pahang royalties also attended the event.

Also present at the function were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Pahang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Osman.

The ceremony began with the khatam Quran recitation led by Pahang Maahad Tahfiz chief executive officer Mohd Khalil Mohd Zari, followed by tahlil recitation by Abdul Rahman before the Sultan Ahmad 1 State Mosque chief imam, Datuk Badli Shah Alauddin delivered a brief talk on the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration.

Al-Sultan Abdullah, who is also Pahang Sultan, presented rewards to the three mosques that have most often completed reading the whole Al-Quran, namely the Sultan Mahmud Mosque (Lipis), Assyakirin Mosque (Maran) and Tengku Mahkota Abdullah Mosque (Jerantut).

Their Majesties then proceeded to break their fast and perform Maghrib prayers with the congregants. - Bernama
