Elderly snatch theft victim injured, loses jewellery worth RM25,000

KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly woman was robbed of her jewellery by two men armed with a machete.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the incident occurred at around 9am on Saturday (March 26).

"We detected a video on the incident which was circulated on social media at around 12.30pm on the same day.

"The video shows a woman being robbed by two men at Bandar Tun Razak here," he said, adding that the suspects fled on a blue and black motorcycle.

He said the suspects snatched a necklace from the victim and used a cutter to cut off two bracelets before fleeing the scene.

"We believe the suspects were riding a motorcycle with a fake licence plate.

"The victim suffered injuries to her hand and lost over RM25,000 worth of jewellery in the incident," he said, adding that the case was classified as gang robbery.
