Four killed, one burnt to death after car bursts into flames following accident on NSE

ALOR SETAR: Four people were killed with one of them burnt to death in an accident involving two vehicles at KM58.4 at North-South Expressway early Monday (March 21) morning.

Pendang OCPD Deputy Supt Arriz Sham Hamezah said in the 2am incident, police received a distress call from the public informing them of a fatal accident between two vehicles at the highway near Pendang, north bound.

"Investigations found that the first car was driven by a man who lost control, causing it to swerve and collide head on with another car," he said in a statement Monday.

DSP Arriz Sham said the crash resulted in the car skidding to the right side of the road and crashing into the highway road divider.

He said the other car involved in the accident burst into flames with the driver still trapped in the car.

He said the victims were all pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

DSP Arriz Sham said police are looking for witnesses to the accident and the next of kin of the deceased.

"Members of the public who have missing relatives can contact Insp Muhamad Atiq Elias from Pendang police headquarters at 012-777 8761 or 04-759 2122," he said.
