Johor polls: Record 239 candidates vying for 56 seats, two seven-cornered fights

JOHOR BARU: A record number of 239 candidates, including 16 Independents, will be contesting the 56 seats in the Johor election, says Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh (pic).

The Election Commission (EC) chairman added that among the parties that would be contesting in the state election were Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang), Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda), Parti Warisan, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) and Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra).
