Kavadi maker turns to papier mache to sculpt statues

GEORGE TOWN: At first glance, it looks like M. Mohana Sundaram’s statues are carved out of clay.

However, a closer look at the artwork by the 52-year-old sculptor would reveal that the statues are actually constructed out of nothing but paper – papier mache, that is.
