Covid-19: NPRA studying use of Sinovac's vaccine for children

PETALING JAYA: The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) is studying the use of Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).

NPRA director Dr Roshayati Mohd Sani said the dossier was submitted to them last week.

“We are still doing the evaluation. We’ll need to consider it carefully as it concerns lives and public health,” she said at a press conference on Tuesday (Feb 8).

Currently, only the Pfizer vaccine is being used for PICKids, which involves children aged from five to 11.

The Health Ministry was reported as saying that a total of 41,393 children had received their first dose as of Monday (Feb 7) and an expected 3.6 million would get their first dose by the end of March 2022.
