Health Ministry to make announcement at 5pm PC on Monday (Feb 7)


PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry is expected to make an announcement over the Covid-19 situation in the country at a press conference later on Monday (Feb 7).

The Ministry said on its Twitter account that Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will hold a press conference at 5pm today, which will be aired live via their official Facebook page.

Khairy had on Sunday (Feb 6) said Malaysia is in the midst of a wave of Covid-19 Omicron variant infections and the daily number of new cases will reach 15,000 soon.

“(We are) fully into the Omicron wave. The (daily) cases will hit 15,000 soon. There are still one million senior citizens who do not have a booster dose. Please inform your loved ones to get a booster dose immediately,” he said in a tweet.

In a tweet on Sunday (Feb 6), Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 10,089 cases were recorded, taking the cumulative total to 2,914,220.
