JOHOR BARU: The Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) has detained an assistant accountant for alleged corruption.
The suspect was arrested to assist with investigations in relation to corruption involving about RM100,000.
The 50-year-old man was detained at the Johor Baru MACC office at around 3pm Wednesday (Jan 26) when giving his statement there.
The suspect, who was responsible for managing the accounts of an office in a district he was attached to, had allegedly embezzled money from 2016 until 2018.
Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 409 of the Penal Code.
The suspect will be brought to the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court at 9am Thursday (Jan 27) to face charges.
