Woman remanded for seven days over husband's fatal stabbing

SEREMBAN: A 55-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death at their home in Rasah Kemayan near here has been remanded for seven days.

Seremban OCPD ACP Nanda Maarof said police obtained the remand order on the housewife from a Magistrate's Court here at around noon Monday (Jan 24).

The suspect, who was once a candidate in a state seat by-election here, was brought to court at about 10.15am.

She allegedly stabbed her retired accountant husband, also 55, in the kitchen of their bungalow here at 4.11pm Sunday (Jan 23).

ACP Nanda had said in a statement yesterday that the victim was stabbed in the chest and abdomen.

He added that police received a call about the incident from the victim’s 18-year-old daughter.

The couple has four children, two of whom reportedly witnessed the incident.

ACP Nanda said a preliminary probe indicated that the motive for the incident was financial problems.

He added that police seized a sharp object at the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
