MACC detains marketing manager over alleged misappropriation of funds

JOHOR BARU: A marketing manager has been detained to help with an abuse of power probe involving alleged misappropriation of over RM85,000 meant as payment for fresh oil palm fruit.

According to a source, the 35-year-old male suspect was arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office here at around 12.30pm on Monday (Jan 24) after giving his statement.

It was learnt that between 2018 and 2019, the suspect had allegedly abused his position by misappropriating the money, the proceeds of the sale of fresh oil palm fruit, for his own self-interest.

When contacted, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest and said the case was being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
