KOTA BARU: Kelantan police have combined the Aman Wanita (Amanita) squad, patrol car unit and motorcycle patrol unit into one team to fight crime in the state.
State police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said previously, the Amanita squad focussed on domestic violence and child abuse cases while the two other units concentrated on patrol duties.
"We will coordinate all these three units as one... we want them to move together when conducting patrols for a better impact on reducing crime,” he said at the appointment of department and district Amanita chiefs and handing out Amanita corporate wear for 2022 here on Monday (Jan 24).
On the Chinese New Year Ops Selamat, Shafien said Kelantan police expected almost 800,000 vehicles to enter the state in conjunction with the celebrations on Feb 1 and 2.
"There will be roadblocks at border entry points such as Gua Musang, Jeli and Pasir Puteh for smooth traffic flow and crime prevention,” he added.
On another matter, Shafien said police were still looking for a group of Rohingya men who are believed to have assaulted a robbery suspect at their kongsi house in Kampung Pauh Badang here on Jan 18.
The suspect suffered a fractured right arm and leg in the attack. – Bernama
