Comms Ministry organises special prayers for Dr M's good health


KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa joined a congregation of more than 50 people for a Solat Hajat and Yasin recital ceremony to pray for the good health of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Muhammadi Angkasapuri Mosque here Monday (Jan 24).

Also present at the event organised by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry were the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek, Information Department director-general Datuk Mohd Sukari Abd Hamid, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia chief executive officer Prof Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim, as well as the top management and staff of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

Ustaz Mohd Fadhli Md Desa led the congregational Maghrib prayers followed by the Solat Hajat, Yasin recital, prayer ceremony, as well as Isyak prayers.

The event was held in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the National Security Council, including physical distancing and the wearing of face masks during prayers.

On Sunday (Jan 23), Dr Mahathir’s daughter Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir said her father, who is currently being treated at the National Heart Institute (IJN), was in stable condition and responding well to the treatment following his elective medical procedure on Jan 8.

The Langkawi MP was previously allowed to leave IJN on Jan 13 after being admitted to the medical centre on Jan 7 to undergo the elective procedure,which was conducted by a team of doctors from the institute as well as the University of Malaya Medical Centre. - Bernama
