JOHOR BARU: Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia will be having a meeting with its party president and state chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) to discuss preparations for the state election.

State Bersatu secretary Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal said the meeting would involve the party’s division heads and election machinery in Johor.

“Johor Bersatu takes note of the dissolution of the Johor State Assembly, which has obtained the consent of Johor Sultan His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Iskandar to give way for the state election to be held.

“Following that, Johor Bersatu, led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will meet to discuss in detail with the party’s division heads and the state election machinery.

“The meeting will discuss several related matters including the preparation of election machinery to face the state election in the near future,” he said in a statement here on Sunday (Jan 23).

He added that the party will also be having meetings and discussions with other component parties under Perikatan Nasional, namely, PAS and Gerakan.

“The meetings with PAS and Gerakan are for the same purpose.

“As a registered party, Johor Bersatu has always supported the principles of Rukun Negara and the practice of democracy as well as upholding the Federal Constitution and Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Johor 1895 (Johor state constitution).

“We have always put the welfare of the state and the people as a priority and will continue to do so to provide services for the prosperity of the state and the well-being of the people of Johor,” he added.

On Saturday (Jan 22), Johor’s Sultan assented to the dissolution of the 56-seat state assembly, paving the way for a state election to take place.

Prior to that, His Majesty granted an audience to caretaker Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad at Istana Bukit Serene at 5pm.
