PETALING JAYA: A senior citizen was found burnt to death after a fire which razed a furniture store on Jalan 1, Kampung Cheras Baru, early Friday morning (Jan 21), Sinar Harian reports.

Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Khairul Azmi Jaafar said the deceased was believed to be an employee of the store.

“The fire involved a furniture store with the entire location completely razed.

“Firefighters also experienced difficulty when fighting the flames because of live electrical lines on the premises.

“Despite that, the fire was brought under control at about 3.30am,” said Mohd Khairul.

He added that one person died and two others were injured in the incident.

“The victim who died is believed to be in their 60s while two others, both in their 50s, were injured. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire,” he said.
