PASIR GUDANG: The body of the second boy who drowned while swimming in Sungai Masai, near Jalan Masai Utama here, has been found.
Johor Fire and Rescue Department Zone 1 operation commander Hamdan Ismail said the body of Mohd Ahlan Kiram, 14, was found at 10.32pm while the first victim, Sharif Mohd Sharizan Sabri, 11, was found at 9.18pm.
Both victims were reported missing at about 6.15pm on Sunday (Jan 16) at the river, which is located about 500m from their house in Flat Masai Utama.
"From our initial report, witnesses claimed that the victims had gone out to play around the river with four other friends.
"Both bodies were located 2m apart from one another and were recovered from a depth of 5m deep in the river," he said.
He added that a total of 36 officers and personnel were deployed to the location to conduct the rescue operations.
"The rescue team was from the Pasir Gudang fire station, the Skudai Water Rescue Unit, and the Pasir Gudang police station," he said, adding that the operation ended at about 11pm Sunday.
The body of the victim has been handed over to the police to be brought to Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI).
