Four-year-old who went missing while swimming found dead

KOTA KINABALU: A boy who went missing during a swim in a river at the Man Coon Estate in Beluran district on Saturday (Jan 15) has been found dead.

The body of four-year-old Mohd Ridwan Suprianto Mohd Aidil was found on Monday (Jan 17) morning about 1km from where he was last seen.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said search-and-rescue teams from the department found the boy’s body at 9.50am.

“Medical officials pronounced him dead at the scene and the body has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said.

Meanwhile, a search is on for another boy who was reported missing while having a picnic with relatives and friends by the Bengkoka river near Jalan Hapseng-Kg Mangkabusu in the Pitas district on Sunday (Jan 16).

The 12-year-old, identified as Rickson Josh, was said to have suffered from leg cramps when swimming prior to his disappearance.

The weather was reportedly clear when the incident happened.

“The search for the victim is continuing,” said Misran.
