Floods: Number of victims in Johor drops to 95

JOHOR BARU: The flood situation in Johor has improved further with only two districts having evacuees in five temporary relief centres (PPS) as of 8am on Saturday (Jan 15).

State Health and Environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said the remaining 95 people from 25 families were seeking shelter at the Balairaya Gemerah 4 (Batu Badak), Kampung Bukit Senggir, Sekolah Agama Semarah and Dewan Serbaguna Jalan Genuang PPS in Segamat as well as the SK Durian Chondong PPS in Tangkak.

"There are 83 flood victims in the four PPS in Segamat and 12 people at one PPS in Tangkak.

"The weather has remained clear in all 10 districts in Johor since 1am on Saturday (Jan 15)," he said.

He added that only one road, Jalan Felda Bukit Aping (Jalan Kemuning 1) in Kota Tinggi is still closed due to a landslide.

"One river, Sungai Bekok in Batu Pahat is still recording a high alert reading of 16.43m while other rivers have been reported safe water level figures," he said.
