Floods: MetMalaysia issues heavy rain warning for eight areas in S'wak


PETALING JAYA: The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of continuous heavy rain in several areas across Sarawak from Friday (Jan 14) to Saturday (Jan 15).

"Continuous heavy rain at the severe level is expected in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu and Mukah until Saturday," MetMalaysia said in a tweet Thursday (Jan 13).

It also warned of continuous rain at the alert level for Kapit, Bintulu and Miri until Saturday.

Meanwhile, the department also warned of continuous rain at the alert level in seven areas in Sabah from Sunday (Jan 16) to Tuesday (Jan 18).

The affected areas are Ranau in the West Coast, Tawau, Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, Sandakan and Kudat.
