Crossed signal at Moon Gate

Stopped in their tracks: The ‘No Entry’ signboard was meant to serve as a deterrent for would-be vandals. The Penang Forestry Department promises to rectify the sign so hikers can continue to enjoy the trails.

GEORGE TOWN: Generations of hikers on Penang Hill have enjoyed the trek uphill to reach a broad ledge called “Moon Gate Station 5”.

However, there is now a large government sign which reads “Hutan Simpan – Dilarang masuk” (Forest Reserve – No Entry).
