PM: Special Parliament meeting to discuss flood crisis on Jan 20

PETALING JAYA: A special meeting of Parliament will be held on Jan 20 in light of the flood crisis that has affected the rakyat recently, says the Prime Minister.

In a statement Thursday (Jan 6), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the special meeting will be held in accordance with Standing Order 11(3), Rules of the Dewan Rakyat.

The order entails discussing matters related to national interests that include floods and post-floods, coordination of assistance to the people and long-term flood disaster management planning.

“His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has been informed about the implementation of this Special Meeting (and it) has also obtained His Majesty’s consent.

“This Special Meeting is important to provide space for the government to explain to the people about (its) actions and plans to address flood issues,” Ismail Sabri said.
