Floods: TMJ distributes aid, visits preparation efforts in Tangkak

JOHOR BARU: Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim has been going around two districts here to find out the latest about their flood preparations and also to distribute aid to those affected in Tangkak.

Tunku Ismail said he distributed aid to seven families comprising 31 people who were relocated to a religious school in Tangkak.

‘The basic provisions were distributed by members of the Johor Military Force (JMF) and Southern Volunteers,” he said on Facebook on Sunday (Jan 2).

In Muar, Tunku Ismail was given a briefing on the district’s flood preparations by its district officer.

‘I also paid a visit to their flood operations control centre which is located at the Muar district office,” he added.

He thanked the government agencies, district officers and NGOs in Johor for ensuring a high level of preparations to face the floods.

As of 8pm, the number of flood victims in Tangkak continues to rise involving people from Kampung Sri Makmur.

At press time, 13 families comprising 51 people have been evacuated.
