KLANG: North Klang cops have received seven reports of theft from victims affected by the floods in the district.

North Klang OCPD ACP S. Vijaya Rao said that a total of 8,622 flood-related police reports have been lodged.

"Of that seven were linked to thefts. Victims returning to their homes noticed items missing and such. We are investigating this. Some reports included house break-ins," he said.

ACP S. Vijaya said that he gave those affected time off to settle their affairs before returning to duties.

"I gave them one to two days to clean up their homes and things have returned to normal here," he said when met at the North Klang police headquarters here on Thursday (Dec 30) after giving out food aid to district cops affected by the floods.

A total of 97 police officers, rank and file men, and civilian staff from the district were affected by the floods, including around 500 family members.

"In the meantime we are providing them and their families meals so that it would be one less thing to worry about as their home kitchens might still be unusable," said ACP S. Vijaya.

"We have been cooking lunch for them every day since Tuesday (Dec 28). This will go on until Friday (Dec 31)," he said.

While the original plan was for all three meals a day to be provided, budget issues brought the scale down a bit.

"So it’s just lunch but we are cooking extra so that they can use the remainder for their other meals," he said.
