KOTA KINABALU: An incumbent Selangor assemblyman is expected to become a Parti Warisan member as it launches in Peninsular Malaysia on Dec 17.

Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal hinted that an assemblyman will be among those joining the party as it marks its entry into the peninsula.

"Yes there will be an assemblyman. He is only a YB, " he hinted to reporters after opening the Putatan division delegate's meeting here Sunday (Nov 28) night.

He declined to reveal the state the assemblyman is from though talk is rife that it was a Selangor representative.

Shafie said that his Sabah-based party will gradually spread into certain areas in the peninsula and stressed that they have no ambitious plans for Peninsular Malaysia.

"I will name the pro-tem leaders and committee members in certain states

"I have the list that has been submitted. We are still studying and verifying the details on who could be the best choice for party's pro-tem leaders, " he said

On whether they were launching a Warisan division or state liaison committee, he replied that Warisan would remain selective in the areas they launch

"There are certain places that we might not go, (but) it would depend on our ability to have a better impact in the coming general election.

"What is important for us is that we just need to expand. We cannot be too ambitious to spread to the whole country.

"This is because we know our capacity but we must be ready for the general election to be called anytime next year or whenever," he said, adding that Warisan had done its homework.

Shafie said that after Warisan launches in Peninsular Malaysia, it would also be working closely with the yet-to-be-registered Muda and its pro-tem president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.

He said that Warisan was working towards a coalition with Muda.

"Syed Saddiq and I have spoken. So I think it is already quite clear. We would see how best we can realise the coalition with them as well," he added.
