More states move to Phase Four of NRP

KUALA LUMPUR: Five states – Perlis, Perak, Penang, Sabah and Kedah – will move into Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) beginning Monday, says Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Defence Minister said the Special Committee on Covid-19 Management decided on this after taking into account the risk assessment carried out by the National Security Council (NSC) and the Health Ministry.

The latest move will see only Kelantan and Sarawak still under Phase Three of the NRP.

“The standard operating procedure for these five states remains the same,” he said, adding that further clarifications on the SOP would be uploaded to the NSC website at www.mkn.gov.my.

According to Bernama, Hishammuddin said ship crew under the Port Klang Authority would be allowed to get their vaccinations during port of call at Port Klang, subject to approval from the Health Ministry, the Marine Department and the Immigration Department.

He said the vaccination should be carried out onboard the vessel to prevent a large-scale movement of the crew to the clinic or medical facility on shore.

“The Port Klang Authority has been asked to submit further information such as the organiser, the number of personnel involved and other matters related to the vaccination programme for crew of ships docking in Port Klang,” he said.

He also said from Monday, fully vaccinated individuals would be allowed to enter stadiums, including all sport facilities.

However, the minister said those aged below 18, who had yet to be vaccinated, would not be allowed into the stadiums.

“Eating and drinking in the stadiums are still not allowed for now,” he said.

Yesterday, the country saw a drop in new cases, from 5,713 cases the day before to 4,922.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,579 recoveries, bringing the cumulative total to 2,401,823.

“Out of the 4,922 new cases, 80 cases or 1.6% were in Categories Three, Four and Five while 4,842 cases or 98.4% were in Categories One and Two,” he said.
