Moneylender hacked to death outside restaurant in Klang

KLANG: An 18-year-old youth and his 10-year-old brother escaped unscathed when their father was brutally attacked by machete wielding men on Saturday (Nov 6).

The incident happened past noon when the trio had gone to a restaurant at Lorong Batu Nilam 27 A, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2 for lunch.

The 47-year-old man, who is a moneylender, was waylaid by his assailants when he was walking to his car with his sons after finishing their meal.

According to South Klang police chief Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli, three men, armed with machetes, approached him from behind the vehicle and started slashing away.

He added the victim ran, but collapsed shortly after and died in front of a neighbouring restaurant.

When contacted, ACP Shamsul said based on information, a 33-year-old man has been detained on Saturday evening at nearby Jenjarom.

"The man denied being involved in the case.

"Further investigations will be carried out after a remand order has been obtained from the Klang Court," he said.

Police believe there were four suspects involved in the murder, with one of them waiting in the getaway car whilst the other three carried out the deed.

The deceased also had seven previous police records under the Penal Code.
