Dad attacks son with a knife for changing the TV channel

A FIGHT over television channels turned tragic when an elderly father slashed his 37-year-old son, Berita Harian reported.

The Wednesday incident saw the 71-year-old suspect asking for help from a shop in Taman Bernam Jaya in Hulu Selangor after the incident at about noon, saying his son was bleeding and unconscious at home.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Arsad Kamaruddin said the suspect also informed a neighbour to alert the police, claiming his son had attempted to commit suicide.

“However, our investigation found that the victim had deep slash wounds on his neck, which is not consistent with attempted suicide.

“The father revealed that he had a fight with his son, who changed the channel on the television at home. The father had pushed his son, who hit the wall and fell.

“He then took out a knife from the kitchen and tussled with his son, who ended up with three slash wound on his neck,” he said.

Supt Arsad said police had seized the weapon and the father has been remanded.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

> Sinar Harian reported that 68 Boer goats worth RM102,000 that were believed to have been smuggled from a neighbouring country were seized by the 9th Battalion General Operations Force (PGA9).

The incident was uncovered by a team that noticed a lorry that was being driven suspiciously near Kampung Jubakar Darat in Tumpat, Kelantan, at noon on Wednesday.

Commanding officer Supt Nor Azizan Yusof said the team tailed the truck before stopping it for an inspection and found the goats at the back of the lorry.

“The lorry driver failed to produce any documents for transporting the animals,” he said, adding that the animals would be handed over to the Kelantan Veterinary Services Department for further action.

The 35-year-old suspect had also allegedly raised his hands on his 41-year-old wife previously.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the victim, who is nine, suffered wounds on her cheek and ear.

“Initial investigation showed that the child has asked her mother to take her away from the house because she no longer wants to live with her father,” he said.
