Cops detain four in PJ for drink-driving


PETALING JAYA: Police here detained four men for driving while intoxicated during an operation at the Sprint Expressway and Jalan Utara.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the suspects in their 40s were detained during an operation held from 11pm on Saturday (Oct 23) until 2.30am on Sunday (Oct 24).

"We discovered their blood alcohol level was beyond the permitted limit;" he said when contacted on Sunday.

ACP Mohd Fakhrudin said three officers and 23 personnel were involved in the operation.

"We also issued 13 summonses for traffic offences. We conduct such operations continuously to curb traffic offences and driving while under the influence of alcohol," he added.

ACP Mohd Fakhrudin said that those detained are being investigated for offences under Section 45 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
