Cops arrest jobless man for allegedly breaking mother's wrist

PETALING JAYA: Police here have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly breaking his mother's wrist.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the incident occurred at their home in Pelangi Damansara at about 7pm on Saturday (Oct 16).

"The 73-year-old mother lodged a report on Tuesday (Oct 19) claiming that the suspect had hit her using a wooden stick until her right hand wrist was broken.

"She was treated at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC)," he said when contacted on Thursday (Oct 21).

He added that a police team raided the suspect's home and detained the suspect at about 11.30pm on Tuesday.

"The suspect is jobless and we believe he had acted aggressively when demanding money from his mother to buy drugs. He has 18 criminal records, including for drug related offences," he said.

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said the suspect has been remanded for four days to assist the investigation.

"We will investigate the matter further," he said.
