Man nabbed for impersonating policeman

KAJANG: A man in his 30s was arrested for allegedly impersonating a policeman in Taman TTDI Grove here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the suspect was involved in an altercation between two parties concerning housing rent in the residential area at 2.29am on Saturday (Oct 16).

"Passers-by managed to intervene and separated the two groups. However, the suspect introduced himself as a policeman and even showed an 'authority card' in a bid to protect himself," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Oct 19).

He added that one of the people who separated the groups suspected that something was amiss and contacted the police.

"When police personnel arrived, they discovered that the suspect was using a fake authority card and confirmed that he was not a policeman. The suspect was arrested and has since been remanded until Friday (Oct 22)," he said.

ACP Mohd Zaid said police also seized various items from the suspect, including the fake authority card, a police operational uniform and a pair of handcuffs.

"We are investigating whether the suspect is involved with other cases of posing as a policeman," he said.

He urged those with information to contact investigating officer Insp Hairul Anuar Suhaimi at 012-3043034 or any nearest police station.
