Cabinet to discuss Klang Valley transition into NRP Phase Two on Wednesday (Sept 1), says Annuar Musa

PETALING JAYA: The possibility of allowing the Klang Valley to transition into Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) will be discussed by the Cabinet on Wednesday (Sept 1), said Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic).

The Communications and Multimedia Minister said this will be the main topic to be discussed among the Cabinet ministers as the region has reached a vaccination coverage of more than 80% among its adults.

“The Prime Minister has mentioned this. We will discuss what is the ‘way forward’ in a comprehensive manner, including new approaches to manage the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said after attending the 2021 National Day celebration at Dataran Pahlawan Negara in Putrajaya on Tuesday (Aug 31).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be chairing the first meeting of the Special Committee to Address Covid-19 on Wednesday (Sept 1).

He had previously said that the Klang Valley may be able to move into the next phase of the NRP as 89.5% of its adult population have received two doses.

Annuar also said he would bring up the suggestion in the meeting to allow filming activities outside of studios, but with strict adherence to the standard operating procedure.

“I hope that tomorrow I can discuss this matter so that those in the film industry can get more relaxed rules, especially in areas which have achieved herd immunity,” he said.

He added that the government will improve the news presentation process of official media, especially on reports which concern national interests.
