BACHOK (Bernama): With National Day happening on Tuesday (Aug 31), Kelab 4x4 Group Pauh Lima Group (GP 5) member, Faizal Khalid, 46, decorated his Kia Sportage with 64 Jalur Gemilang.
Faizal said decorated his car with 64 Jalur Gemilang to celebrate the country's 64th National Day adding that before the Movement Control Order (MCO) he had been actively participating in the various Merdeka convoys, including to the State Secretary's Office.
"The atmosphere this year is different due to the restrictions but it has not been an obstacle for us to celebrate the nation's birthday," he said when met at Kampung Teratak Pulai, Jelawat here on Monday (Aug 30).
By decorating his 4X4 with flags, Faizal said he wanted to express his spirit of patriotism without violating the conditions and laws set by the Road Transport Department (RTD).
The owner of another four-wheel drive vehicle, Mohd Zaki Abdul Ghani, 42, also adorned his Kia Sportage with more than 20 large and small flags.
"I decorated the vehicle with the Jalur Gemilang by affixing it to the bonnet, dashboard, mirrors, cushions and the side of the door.
"I also had the support of my wife, Zailawati Nor, 42 and four children who helped me decorate our vehicle and all of it will stay until Malaysia Day (Sept 16)," he said.
Meanwhile, GP5 4x4 Club deputy president Saiful Azli Mat Zin said his team had installed 500 Jalur Gemilang on 10 four-wheel drive vehicles despite having more than 200 members to maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) in curbing the spread of Covid-19.
He said, however, it did not stop them from creating memories to celebrate 2021 National Day.
He added that for the celebration, the club also donated food baskets worth RM100 each to 100 residents around the district including Kampung Pauh Lima, Tok Chong, Teratak Pulai and Tepus who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. - Bernama
