Dr Wee congratulates powerlifter Bonnie Bunyau Gustin for winning country’s first Tokyo Paralympics gold


PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has congratulated powerlifter Bonnie Bunyau Gustin for delivering Malaysia’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.

“Congratulations Bonnie Bunyau Gustin for your success in obtaining the first gold medal for Malaysia,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Aug 28).

Bonnie took home the gold medal at the men's 72kg powerlifting competition at the Tokyo International Forum earlier.

He shattered the Paralympic record at 228kg.

Egyptian Mahmoud Attiar took the silver while the bronze went to Micky Yule of Britain.
