Noh Omar makes a return as one of five new faces in Cabinet


PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Noh Omar has made a return to Cabinet after being named as the new Entrepreneur Development And Cooperatives Minister on Friday (Aug 27).

The Tanjung Karang MP had last served as minister under former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, where he was in charge of the then Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government ministry between 2016 and 2018.

Noh is one of two ministers in Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's new Cabinet who had not served under Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's premiership.

The other one is newcomer Idris Ahmad, who is the new Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for religious affairs, replacing Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

Idris is a senator and is PAS vice president.

Besides Idris, other ministers from PAS are deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

Tuan Ibrahim remained Environment and Water Minister while Takiyuddin was named the new Energy and Natural Resources Minister.

PAS central committee member Datuk Seri Khairuddin Aman Razali was dropped from the Cabinet.

Other new faces among the ministers in the Cabinet line-up are Bersatu's Datuk Ahmad Faizal Azumu (Youth and Sports Minister) and Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (Rural Development Minister) and Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (Federal Territories Minister) from Umno.
