JOHOR BARU: The Johor Fire and Rescue Department’s showcase bus has been turned into a mobile vaccination centre to administer the Covid-19 jabs to 500 recipients at the Larkin Flats area here.
Department director Datuk Yahaya Madis said the mobile vaccination outreach programme was a collaborative effort with the Johor Baru Health Office.
"It's our way of assisting in vaccinating those in the community, especially senior citizens, those with comorbidities and the disabled.
The mobile vaccination unit started operations on Tuesday (Aug 3) at Dewan Raya Kampung Dato’ Onn Jaafar to inject the recipients with their first dose.
"We will be back again on Aug 24 to administer the second dose.
“The next location for the mobile vaccination unit is yet to be confirmed as it depends on the vaccine availability,” he said in a statement.
About 50 frontline workers, volunteers and community leaders were on duty to assist those who came for their appointment, he added.
