PETALING JAYA: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun stayed calm despite the barrage of insults thrown at him during the special Parliament sitting, says Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister said in a Facebook post that Azhar managed to control the proceedings of the House with Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz then explaining the government’s efforts in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic at 11am on Thursday (July 29).

The Dewan Rakyat convened on Monday (July 26) for a special five-day sitting since adjourning in December last year after passing Budget 2021.

It was supposed to convene in March for the opening of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth Parliament but the meeting was suspended following the Emergency Proclamation on Jan 12.

The Emergency is set to end on Aug 1.
