Covid-19: New high for second day running, 11,618 new cases recorded


PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 11,618 more Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (July 14), another new daily record.

This brings the country’s cumulative total of infections since the pandemic began to 867,567 cases.

In the same 24 hour span, 6,377 patients were discharged from treatment.

Total number of Covid-19 recoveries in the country is 759,705 or 87.57%.

Another 118 more people died to the coronavirus.

This takes the country’s Covid-19 death toll up to 6,503.

Active cases have gone up to 101,359.

Of that number, 878 are under intensive care of which 432 are on ventilator support.

Selangor remained the state with the most number of cases, with 5,051 new infections reported while Kuala Lumpur is second with 1,749 cases, followed by Negri Sembilan with 1,537.

Case figures in other states are as follows: Melaka (526 cases), Kedah (504), Pahang (400), Johor (396), Sarawak (289), Sabah (286), Kelantan (236), Penang (210), Terengganu (189), Perak (164), Putrajaya (40), Labuan (38) and Perlis (three).
