KLANG: The Selangor Legislative Assembly will meet from Aug 23 to Sept 6, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic).

He said that the state had received a letter from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on July 6 consenting to the sitting.

Amirudin added in a statement on Friday (July 9) that the Royal consent was accorded in line with the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021.

He said that Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has also consented for the assembly to convene on the stipulated dates and also consented to opening the meeting.

"The State Legislative Assembly will then convene for eight days from Aug 24 to Aug 27, Aug 30, Sept 1 to Sept 3 as well as on Sept 6," said Amirudin.

According to Amirudin, the state assembly session will be a regular one with question and answer and debate sessions and will not be a special sitting.

"The state assembly sitting this time will be conducted under the Standard Operating Procedures and will focus on all the efforts taken by the state government to handle the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as to get feedback and suggestions from members of the Selangor assembly," said Amirudin.
