Cops nab five women for sitting on sixth-floor ledge of JB apartment

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested five Indonesian women after a video of them sitting on a ledge on the sixth floor of an apartment in Taman Sri Bayu Puteri here went viral on social media.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said the suspects, aged from 20 to 26, were arrested at 12.10pm on Monday (July 5).

"Investigations revealed that the incident occurred at about 10am on Sunday (July 4) on the sixth floor of the 10-storey building.

"A team from the Taman Pelangi police station arrested the four women who appeared in the video and another resident of the unit," he said.

He added that background checks revealed that all suspects have no prior criminal records and had valid travel documents.

The case is being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangerment of life or personal safety, which carries imprisonment of not more than three months or a fine of RM500 or both.

Earlier, a seven-second clip went viral on Facebook showing four women sitting on a ledge on the sixth floor of the Taman Sri Bayu Puteri apartment.
