Ismail Sabri: Several areas in Kedah, Sabah under EMCO from June 26-July 9


PUTRAJAYA: Two localities in Kedah and five in Sabah will be placed under enhanced movement control order beginning June 26.

In Kedah, the affected localities are Politeknik Sultanah Bahiyah in Kulim and Bestgrade industrial area in Pokok Sena.

Health authorities have so far recorded 22 cases out of 423 individuals screened at the polytechnic, where the infectivity rate is high.

At the Bestgrade industrial area, 27 people out of 38 who were screened for Covid-19 tested positive.

In Sabah, the order will be enforced at Kampung Muhibbah, Menggatal, where so far, 12 cases have been reported.

Also placed under the EMCO is the Tawau Prison and staff quarters where there are currently 14 cases out of 66 screenings carried out.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that the order will also be enforced at Kampung Kuala Merotai in Kalabakan, Kampung Tahak in Beaufort and Indah Jaya flats in Sandakan.

He said Kampung Muhibbah has an infectivity rate of 50% and 13 cases have been reported so far.

Kampung Tahak reported 11 Covid-19 cases from 98 screenings carried out to date, while at the Indah Jaya flats, 11 screenings out of 252 came back positive.

“The localities will be placed under EMCO until July 9 so that health authorities can make sure those who are at risk of being infected remain within the area,” he said on Thursday (June 24).

Ismail Sabri also said the EMCO at several localities will be lifted including Kampung Tajin in Kuala Berang, Terengganu; Taman Temerloh Jaya, Taman Temerloh Jaya Indan and Taman Temerloh Makmur in Pahang; Ladang Tereh Mill in Kluang, Johor and Kampung Lakai, Jelebu, Negri Sembilan.

Other areas where the order will be lifted are Kampung Kolong 2 in Kuching, as well as Rumah Panjang Bala anak Umba, Rumah Panjang Tulu anak Sli, Rumah Panjang Dua and Entigi, Rumah Panjang Balik anak Gema SK St Luke and Nanga Baoh health clinic all in Mukah, Sarawak.
