Man dies in fall from 10th floor of flat in Butterworth


BUTTERWORTH: A man died after falling from the 10th floor of Seri Melur Apartment in Bagan Ajam here.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the incident occurred at around 6.30pm on Wednesday (June 23).

"Police received a call from the public at around 6.45pm informing us about the incident and a team from the Butterworth police station rushed to the scene," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 23).

ACP Noorzainy said investigations revealed that the 26-year-old deceased was seen entering the apartment compound on a motorcycle.

He said the deceased took the lift to the 10th floor of the building.

ACP Noorzainy said the deceased lived in Taman Bayu with his wife and two children aged two and four.

"The deceased was said to have been depressed after his business failed," he said, adding that the deceased also sought treatment at a private clinic four days ago.

The body of the victim has been taken to Hospital Seberang Jaya for a post-mortem.
