PUTRAJAYA: Police have nabbed 825 individuals for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations.
Among offences committed were not practising social distancing (217), cross-border travel without permission/eating at premises (151), not wearing face masks (137), failure to register when entering premises (113), failure to abide to movement control order (94), ferrying excess passengers (45), activities at entertainment centres (26), premises failing to comply with SOP (12) and other offences (30).
Of those nabbed on Sunday (June 20), 810 individuals were slapped with compound notices and 15 were remanded.
The task force monitoring SOP compliance had checked 90, 386 premises on Sunday, including supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices and hawkers.
Also checked were wet markets/pasar tani, places of worship, recreational places and sea transport terminals.
On Ops Benteng, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 17 illegal immigrants were arrested and five land vehicles as well as a vessel were seized.
“Enforcement authorities also detected the presence of 171 boats in Malaysian waters during nine sighting activities, ” he said on Monday (June 21).
Ismail Sabri also said that 856 individuals had arrived in Malaysia on Sunday, and all were sent to undergo quarantine at government-designated stations.
Since July 24 last year, a total of 230, 738 individuals had returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.
On sanitisation of public spaces, 106 operations were carried out nationwide on Sunday at 50 red zones, three orange and eight yellow zones.
Since March last year, 28, 535 sanitisation exercises have been carried out at government offices, supermarkets, business centres and public housing areas.
